Dr. Klaus Mergener went to Medical School in Frankfurt and Heidelberg, Germany. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology, including additional training in Interventional Endoscopy at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Before joining Digestive Health Specialists, Klaus worked as an Associate Physician at Mainz University Medical Center and at Virginia Mason Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology. Dr. Mergener is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and serves as an ASGE representative to the American Medical Association. Dr. Mergener enjoys spending time with his wife, and their two children. His hobbies include classical music, hiking and reading.
